CERT Meetings commence on the second Tuesday of every month at the Office of Disaster Preparedness from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

CERT refresher training takes place each month along with special presentations from professional in the community relating to current topics in disaster preparedness or emergency services.

CERT and RACES members met to discuss some changes to the CERT Levels in 2007. Most notable is the addition of certification in NIMS IS-700 and IS-100 to the CERT Level 1 requirements. This change reflects direction from the US Department of Homeland Security stating that all volunteers participating in disaster response efforts must be NIMS compliant. As a result, the CERT Level 3 requirement for IS-100 was removed.

Training commenced with a tabletop exercise to practice the team organization process during a disaster response scenario. Members were divided into 5 groups representing each of the major sections in the Incident Command System (ICS) Structure including an Incident Commander Team, Operations Team, Planning Team, Logistics Team, and Administration Team. Each group discussed the organizational process that they would take in responding to a disaster, what the communication needs would be, what pre-planning initiatives could be taken, and how to eliminate chaos.
