CERT Levels 1 and 2 Requirements
Animals in Disasters-Awareness and Preparedness and Community Planning--Independent Study Program* (course #'s IS-10 & IS-11)
Introduction to Hazardous Materials for Citizens-Independent Study (course # IS-5)
3 additional advance training classes offered by the Office of Disaster Preparedness and other approved agencies including but not limited to Advanced Disaster Psychology, Terrorism, Traffic Safety and Management, Advanced First Aid, Critical Incident Stress Management, Medical Operations 3, Disaster Communications, and more.
*Independent study courses are designed for the adult learner and provide participants the ability to work at their own pace. Average course completion time is 10-12 hours. There are no enrollment fees or charges. Enroll at www.training.fema.gov/EMIweb/IS. Libraries materials rot the independent study courses are available from the Anaheim CERT Program Manager.
Participate in a Disaster Simulation Exercise (offered multiple times a year within the City of Anaheim or at another city--must provide proof of completion)
Attend a minimum of six monthly CERT meetings (scheduled on the 2nd Tuesday of the each month from 6:30-8:30 PM)
Complete a Train-the-Trainer course offered by the county or state with proof of certification.
Completion of the 20-hour CERT training (Must be done once every five years to cover any FEMA recognized changes in the curriculum and to serve as an advanced training refresher)
Once you have successfully re-certified through the Anaheim CERT Program, you will be issued a new CERT Volunteer I.D. Card.
