This is what you’ll be doing:

“Dig-In” Trash Clean Up - Wear your grubbies to help the Nature Center’s plant and animal communities by removing trash that accumulates in the stream and drainage areas.  Most trash can decompose - but not for a very, very long time.  Some items can be harmful to animals by trapping them or clogging their digestive tracts.  Clearing trash and debris keeps the Nature Center a safe haven for critters.

“Dig-In” Dry Brush Removal & Trail Maintenance - Wear your grubbies to help the Nature Center’s plant community by removing dry brush that could become kindling for an unwanted wild land fire.  Although the chaparral and coastal sage scrub plant communities are adapted for periodic fire to rejuvenate, a fire in the Nature Center’s wilderness island could be disastrous.  You may also help to maintain the Nature Center’s trails by removing rocks and debris, or filling in ruts.

“Dig-In” Non-Native Plant Removal - Wear your grubbies to help the Nature Center’s plant community by removing non-native plant species.  Learn to identify which plants are the evasive tough guys that can out compete the natives for the limited resources of our arid environment.
