Anaheim Community Anti-Graffiti Effort

Graffiti can make residents and visitors feel unsafe, and detracts from the City’s high quality of life and its business environment. The City of Anaheim is committed to doing all it can to prevent and eliminate graffiti. The City’s Community Anti-Graffiti Effort is the foundation for the City’s actions. Through multiple community meetings, a detailed analysis of graffiti crimes and analysis of research by experts in this arena, City staff worked with residents and the business community to develop a comprehensive strategy that attacks graffiti from all sides of this complex issue. The strategy has been endorsed by the City Council and implementation is well underway.

We believe that graffiti can only be addressed when all of the stakeholders work together. We expect City staff to remove graffiti quickly, we expect the Police Department to arrest perpetrators, and we expect the justice system to appropriately punish offenders and provide restitution to victims. In addition, we need businesses and residents to try to make their properties less vulnerable to graffiti; to remove graffiti when it does occur; to call the Police when graffiti is occurring; and to report graffiti they observe. We also need schools and youth programs to help prevent graffiti through education. Only by working together can we eliminate graffiti in Anaheim.
