      • Did You Know? Sparky the Fire Dog was born on March 18, 1951 in Boston, MA. Boston was also the site of the first paid fire department in North America after a large fire in 1679. A fire engine had to be imported from England!

      • Did You Know? The first automatic electric fire alarm was invented in 1890 by Francis Robbins Upton and Fernando J. Dibble. Upton was an acquaintance of Thomas Edison’s, but there is no evidence that Edison helped with the project. The first truly “affordable” home smoke detectors weren’t invented until 1967.
