Jordan Brandman

Jordan was elected to the Anaheim City Council in November 2012. Previously, he served as: Trustee of the Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) - one of the largest school districts in the state of California; Chairman of the Anaheim Public Utilities Board (APU); and Trustee for the North Orange County Regional Occupation Program.

During Brandmanís tenure on the AUHSD Board of Trustees, academic standards improved, graduation rates increased, Anaheim High School was restored to its historical architectural glory, and Oxford Academy was ranked the number one school in the state. While he was APU Chairman, the use of clean and efficient utilities was consistently achieved through strategic programs such as the Underground Conversion program, renovation of reservoirs, and advanced renewable technologies - keeping rates among Orange Countyís most affordable.

As a lifelong resident of Orange County, an Anaheim Colony Historic District homeowner, and small business owner, Brandman understands the connection between strong city leadership, property values, and economic growth. He is a proven fiscal conservative committed to policymaking that will: create jobs and strengthen economic development; maintain public safety and fight gangs; ensure safe and well-maintained neighborhoods, parks, and libraries; improve transportation flow and infrastructure; protect our public utilities while keeping rates low; and build on education success.

From 2002-2004, Brandman served as policy adviser in the Governorís Office for the Secretary of Education. In that capacity, he advised the Governor and Secretary on education policy issues, including: high school reform; education technology; career technical education; school facilities; after school programs; accountability and assessment; and child care/school readiness. He then served as a legislative aide in the California State Assembly from 2004-2006, advising on policy issues such as education, local government, and transportation.

Upon returning to Orange County, Brandman next served as director of workforce development for the Orange County Business Council. In that position, he was responsible for designing and implementing strategies and programs to help develop a 21st century workforce that would meet the countyís long-term employment needs.

Brandman holds a bachelorís degree in political science from the University of California, Irvine. He is also active in many community organizations, including the Anaheim Family YMCA, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Anaheim, Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, Orange County Taxpayers Association, Anaheim Historical Society, Anaheim Beautiful, and the Kiwanis Club of Greater Anaheim.
