Welcome to the Anaheim Housing Authority (AHA) webpage. Here you will find information about the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program and how to apply for the program.
The Section 8 HCV Program allows over 6,000 very-low income households to live in decent, safe, and affordable housing. Without rental assistance many of these households would be homeless, or living in substandard housing, and unable to afford the basic necessities of life for themselves and their families. Description of the Section 8 Program
The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program, also known as the Section 8 Program, is a federal program funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Program assists eligible households to find decent, safe and affordable housing. Participants generally pay from 30-40% of their monthly income for rent and AHA subsidizes the difference in a payment made directly to the landlord (up to a specific rent limit called the payment standard). Participants are assisted in privately owned housing. Families can rent an apartment, a single-family home, a condominium, or a mobile home. Prior to receiving assistance, the rental unit must pass a Housing Quality Standard (HQS) inspection. Click on FAQs for additional information.
AHA maintains a list of property owners who are interested in renting to HCV program eligible families. However, the family is not limited to selecting a unit on the list. Participation in the program is open to all landlords who are willing to enter into a Housing Assistance Payment contract with AHA.
