Division Description
Information Services' goal is to ensure that user departments are supported with current technology and expertise at the lowest possible cost and with a system that is responsive to future technological improvements. The Division maintains and manages the City's computer systems including the mainframe, AS/400, personal computers and the network infrastructure.
Information Services works with the City's contractor to ensure that all tasks on the Annual Work Plan (derived from the City's five-year strategic plan for information and technology) are completed accurately and efficiently. They also monitor operation of the City's helpdesk and maintain the City's internal and external websites.
Administration
- Handles purchasing forms, contracts relating to data processing services. Systems & Programming
- Primarily responsible for new application development and on-going maintenance and support for existing systems on both the mainframe and the many mini and microcomputers throughout the City. Data Center
- The Data Center is made up of three service groups: Computer Operations, Data Control and Technical Services. These groups are responsible for hardware maintenance, mainframe computer processing and data control.
- The Technical Services section maintains the operating software which runs the mainframe computer.

- Support Services includes the Help Desk and Data Control.
- Help Desk is responsible for all microcomputer support including both hardware and software. This group also provides support for our large telecommunications network throughout the City.
- Help Desk Number (714) 765-5104 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, for support for PCs and dumb terminals, assistance with software problems, installation of software, reporting network outages, etc.
- Data Control is responsible for quality control and report distribution on all mainframe systems.
