FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS BY
FIRE DISPLACED RESIDENTS

Q: My home was recently red-tagged (or yellow-tagged), who should I contact to discuss my outstanding bill?

A: Anaheim's Mayor, City Council, the City Manager’s Office, and the hundreds of City of Anaheim employees who make up our Anaheim Family, want you to know that we are committed to helping you during this difficult time. Therefore, on a one time basis for both the red and yellow-tagged homes, the City of Anaheim will be waiving the outstanding Utility charges that existed up to the date of the wildfire, November 15, 2008. This includes services on your bill for electricity, water, trash, sanitation, street sweeping, and the monthly fee for participation in the paramedic program. Please note that we can only waive the charges that appear on your Anaheim Municipal Services bill. Services you receive outside of this bill (such as invoices from your Homeowners Association for landscape water or for private street sweeping services) are not charged by the City of Anaheim and therefore cannot be waived.

Q: Both my home and business were affected by the recent fires, who do
I call to schedule disconnection or find out the status of my water and
electric supply?

A: Anaheim Public Utilities is committed to assisting you during this challenging time, we have designated a Utilities Liaison to expedite your utility requests so, you can return to dealing with other important matters. Please call 714/765-3300 during normal working hours where our Utilities liaison and customer service staff will be able to assist and expedite your utility needs.

Q: My home has a yellow tag, how do I know if I have electricity or water?

A: All yellow or green tagged structures will continue to have water and electric service unless the customer requests that service be shut off. Customers can request disconnection by calling 714/765-3300 or provide a forwarding address. We will ensure these requests are prioritized and expedited as they will be managed through our Utilities Fire Liaison.

Q: My home has a red tag, how do I know that the electricity, water and gas have been shut off?

A: For all red tagged homes/businesses, all water and electricity has been turned off at the closest safe isolation point by our Utilities field personnel. For gas related issues, you need to contact the Gas Company at 1-800-427-2200 for residents and 1-800-427-2000 for businesses.

Q: Do I have to contact the Gas Company separately to see if my gas service is still on?

A: Yes, given that your gas is not serviced by Anaheim Public Utilities. All Anaheim residents can contact the Gas Company by calling 1-800-427-2200, and businesses can call 1-800-427-2000.
