ENERGY- AND MONEY-SAVING TIPS
ANAHEIM, CA (September 26, 2005) - Anaheim Public Utilities is celebrating Public Power Week, Oct. 2-8, in conjunction with the American Public Power Association (APPA) in Washington, DC. As part of this celebration, Anaheim Public Utilities is supporting the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) “Smart Energy” campaign geared to educate consumers on ways they can cut energy bills.
Here are five tips to help community members use less electricity to lower monthly bills and to protect the environment:
• Turn off lights when not in use; • Keep curtains and blinds closed during the day to prevent warm air from seeping through glass; • Limit the use of large appliances during peak hours of the day; • Set your thermostat as high as comfortable in the summer and as low as comfortable in the winter; and • Clean or replace air filter once a month.
“Our goal is to provide the best service for our customers, and we believe that to be safe, reliable electricity at a low cost,” said Marcie Edwards, General Manager, Anaheim Public Utilities. “We want to educate customers about how they can help control their bills and do their part to protect the environment.”
