ANAHEIM EIGHTH-GRADER WINS AWARD AT 2006 ORANGE COUNTY SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FESTIVAL

ANAHEIM, CA (April 27, 2006) - Anaheim Public Utilities, along with the Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC), is proud to congratulate Kyle McCluney, an eighth-grader at Anaheim’s Fairmont Private School, Preparatory Academy. Kyle was one of only six MWDOC winners for projects that best highlighted water-related issues. The fair, which took place during the first week of April, was held at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa and welcomed projects from over 200 students, grades 6-12, who attend public and private schools in Orange County.

Kyle’s project, titled “Grow Grow Grow with the Flow,” compared hydroponically grown plants with traditionally grown plants. For his accomplishments, Kyle received an award certificate and a $50 check from MWDOC. The fair is an annual event organized to encourage youth to learn about science and to consider careers in science or engineering.
