TWO ANAHEIM STUDENTS HONORED AT METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT’S ANNUAL STUDENT ART EXHIBIT

ANAHEIM, CA (July 24, 2007) - Two Anaheim students, Kyle Young (4th Grade) and Lucia Deng (5th Grade) of Fairmont Elementary, were recognized for their artistic ability by the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) of Southern California.

The two students’ artwork was selected from the 18 winners in Anaheim Public Utilities’ 2007 Water Conservation Student Art Contest for submission to MWD’s Water is Life poster contest. Their posters will be displayed among the 38 winning entries from kindergarten through 12th-grade students from 25 water agencies representing the 13 counties in MWD’s service area in a special art exhibit and recognition luncheon at MWD headquarters in December. The artwork of all 38 winners will be on display in a traveling art show throughout Southern California in 2008.

Anaheim Public Utilities has invited Anaheim schools to participate in its annual Water Conservation Student Art Contest for 17 years. The contest has helped raise awareness of the importance of water conservation among these young people. Anaheim Public Utilities encourages its customers to save water, save money and help preserve our most precious resource by offering a variety of water-efficiency programs. Program information may be obtained by calling 765-4256.
