ANAHEIM PUBLIC UTILITIES OFFERS LOW- AND NO-COST WAYS
TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT AND SAVE ON UTILITY EXPENSES
ANAHEIM, CA (September 25, 2007) - Anaheim Public Utilities is celebrating Public Power Week, Oct. 7-13, along with more than 2,000 other community-owned electric utilities that collectively provide electricity on a not-for-profit basis to 44 million Americans. As part of Public Power Week, Anaheim Public Utilities is reminding its customers of the following low- and no-cost opportunities to become more energy efficient in order to protect the environment and save money on their utility bills:
• Check your furnace or air conditioner filter after each month, and clean or replace it as needed;
• Use glass fireplace doors to stop heat from being lost up in your chimney; • Keep the lids on pots while cooking or use your microwave instead;
• Only heat or cool the rooms you need by closing vents and doors of unused rooms; and
• Look for the ENERGY STAR label when buying new products such as televisions, refrigerators and even cell phones.
“Our customers are very important to us, and we know that saving money is important to them,” said Marcie Edwards, general manager for Anaheim Public Utilities. “That’s why we want to do all we can to give customers the information they need to continue to keep their electric bills among the lowest in California.”
For additional energy-saving tips, visit the Utilities booth from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Downtown Farmer’s Market or www.anaheim.net and click on Public Utilities, then Advantage Services. ### ABOUT ANAHEIM PUBLIC UTILITIES For more than 100 years, Anaheim Public Utilities has served Anaheim water and electric customers with low rates and reliable service.
