ANAHEIM PUBLIC UTILITIES OFFERS NEW INCENTIVES PROMOTING ENERGY-EFFICIENT HOLIDAY LIGHTS

ANAHEIM, CA (October 26, 2007) - This holiday season, Anaheim Public Utilities is implementing a new energy-efficiency incentive program designed to promote the use of Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs. These lights are an energy-efficient choice for holiday decorative indoor and outdoor lighting, and may be purchased in local hardware and home improvement stores. When customers purchase LED lights between Oct. 1 and Dec. 24, 2007, they can receive their choice of up to a $20 gift card from Borders, Starbucks or Home Depot.

“LED lights use one-tenth the energy of the mini-lights and much less energy than larger lights, which use about 50 times more energy,” said Marcie Edwards, general manager for Anaheim Public Utilities. “They have an average burn time of over 25,000 hours, are cool to the touch so as to never be a fire hazard no matter how long they are on, may be used inside or outside, and cannot be easily broken or damaged like the traditional lights.”

The incentive program is Web-based. Customers can review program criteria online, purchase their LED light strings and then complete a convenient online program application. Only one application per customer is permitted.

Customers who purchase strings of lights that include between 25 to 150 LED bulbs are eligible for a $10 gift card while those who purchase strings that include more than 150 bulbs can qualify for a $20 gift card.
