NATIONAL AWARD PROVES ANAHEIM HAS THE RIGHT POWER
ANAHEIM, CA - (March 30, 2010) - Anaheim Public Utilities was the recipient of American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3®) designation. Only 94 of the nation’s more than 2,000 public power utilities have earned this recognition and Anaheim reached the “Platinum” level by achieving a score of 93 out of a possible 100 points.

This recognition is given to utilities that demonstrate safe and reliable utility operations. Specifically, the RP3 recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvement.  Criteria within each category are based on sound business practices and represent a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity.

“Less than 5 percent of the 2,000 public power utilities across the country receive this award,” said Marcie Edwards, Public Utilities General Manager. “The RP3 award demonstrates the high quality and reliability of our service – a direct result of the years of experience and commitment to excellence demonstrated by our dedicated employees,” Edwards noted.

Anaheim has received the RP3 recognition three times in the last five years that the acknowledgment has been offered. APPA is the national organization representing not-for-profit, community- and state-owned electric utilities that serve more than 45 million Americans.
