ANAHEIM, CA - (April 24, 2012) -

This past weekend Anaheim Public Utilities unveiled its Green Power display at The MUZEO TrashARTist EARTH DAY Expo, which highlighted local and national artists who have created art sculptures from everyday trash items. The release of the Anaheim Public Utilities and the MUZEO exhibits happened to coincide with Earth Day – a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's natural environment. Anaheim saw this as an excellent opportunity to create a display that would not only compliment the theme of this exhibit, but would educate visitors about Anaheim’s advancements in purchasing energy from sustainable, green sources.

Anaheim has procured green energy from a variety of sources, including wind, solar, geothermal and water. Anaheim’s display highlights four notable renewable projects: La Paz Solar Tower project, Geothermal Energy, Olinda Alpha Landfill, and the Water Recycling Demo project. The display is enhanced with supporting videos that visually depict the process of how electricity is generated with the help of innovative technology.

The introduction of these green projects highlights Anaheim’s investment in projects that truly are sustainable—projects that can produce dependable, reliable power to address some of challenges that come with renewable energy sources (for instance: the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow 24/7).  Some examples of reliable green energy sources are landfill gas and geothermal power.

The display is located in the main building of the MUZEO and will be available free to the public until September 2012.
