Community Services Volunteer Opportunities
Interested in becoming a City of Anaheim Community Service Department volunteer? Our volunteers currently serve in a variety of rewarding positions!
Volunteer Programs
ROOTS N' SHOOTS
Oak Canyon Nature Center
Possible activities include: trail clearing, stream maintenance, non-native plant removal and habitat restoration. All work materials are provided.
SUMMER VOLUNTEEN PROGRAM (Summer only)
Summer VolunTEEN program for Anaheim youth ages 13-17. Volunteers will assist in a wide variety of programs based on their interests, location, and availablity.
YOUTH SPORTS COACH ASSISTANTS
East Anaheim Gymnasium
Possible activities include: coaching and assisting coaches in youth sports camps such as volleyball, soccer and basketball as well as special projects at the East Anaheim Community Center and Gymnasium.
ACTIVE OLDER ADULT PROGRAMS
Downtown Anaheim Community Center and Brookhurst Community Center
Possible activities include: interacting, socializing and participating in activities with the seniors. Volunteers may also be asked to help with senior center special events.
S.T.A.R.S. AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM &
FUN ON WHEELS MOBILE RECREATION PROGRAM
Different sites throughout Anaheim
Programming takes place after school until 6:00 p.m. Possible activities include homework help, games, fitness fun and arts and crafts.
CITY-WIDE SPECIAL EVENTS
Volunteers are needed at various times throughout the year for city-wide special events including Howwwl-O-Ween Party for Dogs, Spring Fling and Eco-Fun Faire, and park openings and dedications. Events usually take place on the weekends. Possible activities include set-up and take down, helping with booth activities and clean-up.
REGISTRATION PROCESS
To become a volunteer, applicants must be at least 13 years of age, fill out an application and make an appointment for a fingerprint background check. Some volunteer assignments also require the submission of a TB clearance dated within the last 2 years. Fingerprinting is free, but applicants are responsible for the cost of the TB test. For more information or to make a fingerprinting appointment, contact the Volunteer Coordinator.
Court Appointed Community Service Hours
Individuals who need to complete court mandated community service hours must call
(714) 765-5158 for the Graffiti Removal Program.
