A high-efficiency heat pump transfers central air conditioning as well as heating and uses less energy than traditional electric systems. Heat pumps transfer heat in both directions, using the outside air to heat a home in winter and cool it in summer.

Smart thermostats utilize motion sensors, which recognize when you have left the home and have the potential to learn you daily schedule, making energy-saving temperature changes automatically.
