Candidate Resources
The next General Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. The election will be for three (3) Council Member District Seats (Districts 1, 4, and 5), each for a term of four (4) years.
Individuals interested in running for City Council are encouraged to contact the City Clerk at (714) 765-5166 or via email at tbass@anaheim.net (the nomination period has closed).
Eligibility to Run for Anaheim City Council
- A citizen of the United States
- At least 18 years of age
- Mayor: A resident and qualified elector of the City of Anaheim, at least 30 days immediately preceding the filing of nomination papers
- Council Member: A resident and qualified elector of the respective district, at least 30 days immediately preceding the filing of nomination papers
Campaign Contribution Limit
Candidates or candidate controlled committees shall not accept any contributions which will cause the total amount received by such person to exceed the contribution limit. Effective January 1, 2023, the campaign contribution limit is $2,500. (AMC 1.09.050)
Candidate Handbook
The Candidate Handbook (Handbook) is prepared for Anaheim residents wishing to become a candidate for the office of Council Member and can be used as a general guide to assist in facilitating the election process. The purpose of the Handbook is to provide general information, and is not intended to provide legal advice and should not be used as a substitute for legal counsel; it does not necessarily include all provisions which may affect candidates and does not have the force and effect of law, regulation, or rule.
