Rotating Outages

Anaheim Public Utilities has secured the electric resources needed to meet the energy needs of our customers. However, the volatility of the California electric market can create supply shortages, causing imbalances between electric supply and demand across the state. Such imbalances cause the California Independent System Operator (California ISO) to call for further load reductions, including rotating outages in our area, to protect the stability of the statewide transmission grid.
