City of Anaheim Street Sweeping page with street sweeping truck on street

Anaheim's street sweeping service cleans our streets and helps keep debris and pollution from flowing into storm drains and waterways and getting to our ocean and coastline. That's something we should all embrace and get behind.

That's a big reason why we sweep our streets. But it's not the only one.

  • Street sweeping cleans and enhances neighborhoods and brings better quality of life
  • Federal and state clean water regulations require Anaheim and other cities to sweep streets
  • You pay for it! All residents pay for street sweeping through their utility bills

Citations

Citing vehicles for street sweeping is the last thing we want to do. If everyone moved vehicles to make way for street sweeping, that would be great. But we know that doesn't happen without citations.

We cite for street sweeping because of the importance of the service to clean neighborhoods, protecting our environment and because all residents pay for the service through their utility bills — and we want to ensure you are getting what you pay for.
Ocean wash

When we see heavy rain, trash and debris makes its way into our stormwater system, into waterways and ultimately to the ocean, with tragic pollution impacts for beaches and marine life. The photo here shows trashed washed to Seal Beach after Tropical Storm Hilary in August 2023.

That is something we all should be concerned about and work to prevent. Street sweeping is one of the best ways to do that.

We thank you for making way for our street sweepers and helping to keep your neighborhoods and larger environment clean.

Citations are issued where signs are posted indicating "No Parking for Street Sweeping."

Signs are posted every 250 feet on main streets and are also at the entrances to neighborhoods.

Citations are issued under California Vehicle Code section 22507.6.

Street sweeping citations must be addressed within 21 calendar days of the issue date.
