Summer VolunTEEN Program
The Anaheim Community Services Department provides teens, 13 - 17 years of age, the opportunity to give back to their community and earn service hours through the Summer VolunTEEN Program. Teens can volunteer at various summer programs throughout Anaheim, including Summer Day Camp and Wilderness Survival Camp at Oak Canyon Nature Center, Tiny Tots Academy, Summer Nights Under the Stars at Pearson Park Amphitheatre, Haskett Library, Canyon Hills Library, and East Anaheim Gymnasium.
Eligibility
Applicants must be 13 years of age and have completed the 5th grade. Because of limited space, Anaheim residents and students of Anaheim schools will be given priority placement. Applications will be available beginning Monday, February 6th. Please note: Due to high volume of applications, no application will be accepted after the deadline, May 12th at 5pm.
Application Process

- Submit TB clearance slip dated within the last two years (2021 - present will be accepted)
- Select a fingerprinting appointment.
- Select an orientation date.
- Fill in contact information.
- Select preferred program and location and desired weeks to volunteer.
- Complete waivers.
- Submit application.
Current TB Clearance & Fingerprinting Background Checks
The Community Services Department is required to have volunteers' TB clearance on file. All applicants are required to submit a copy of a TB clearance slip dated within the last two years (2021 - present will be accepted). Applicants are responsible for the cost of the test.
State Law AB 1663 requires all recreation program volunteers be fingerprinted for a background check and cleared by the California Department of Justice before placement. Fingerprinting is available at not cost and must be completed by City of Anaheim staff.
Fingerprinting Appointments & Locations
Fingerprints are scheduled by appointment only. Appointments may be made by contacting the Volunteer Coordinator at (714) 765-4994 or VolunteerOffice@anaheim.net. All appointments will be taking place at City Hall.
REMINDERS:
- Fingerprinting is for NEW VolunTEEN Program applicants only. Returning VolunTEENS do not need to be fingerprinted.
- Applicants MUST bring a current, government-issued I.D. photo card (state I.D., driver's license, US passport) to their fingerprinting appointment.
Application Submission & Deadline
Completed applications (including TB tests) will be accepted beginning Monday, February 6th, 2023. Applications will only be accepted online.
Site selection priority will be given to those who have completed the registration process including attendance at a VolunTEEN Orientation. Applications will be accepted from February 6th until May 12th, or until program fills to capacity.
The last day to submit a complete application is Friday, May 12th - applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. to be considered. The program is limited; partial or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Assignment & Hour Confirmation Letters
Volunteer Assignment emails will be sent to VolunTEENS the week of May 29th. At the end of the 2023 Program, all VolunTEENS will receive a letter confirming the number of community service hours performed. Hour confirmation emails will be sent the week of August 21st.
