Due to the state's new regional stay-at-home order, which prohibits outdoor dining, this program will no longer be available in its current form.
Restaurants that have already spent money on outdoor dining accommodations can still apply for reimbursement for those expenses.
We are looking into ways to transform the program to better help restaurants under the new state restrictions.
We've all been struggling under the restrictions and lifestyle changes caused by the coronavirus crisis this year. Restaurants have had to comply with many new regulations, including increasing outdoor dining options.
Being outside, experts have said, helps prevent the spread of the virus in combination with wearing masks and maintaining at least six feet of physical distance. That's why state guidelines give more allowances for restaurants to reopen outdoors.
And now that Orange County is back in purple Tier 1, restaurants can only serve outdoors.
But we know not all restaurants have patios or courtyards already built out. And it's getting colder out, which complicates things even more. So we're here to help.
Anaheim Restaurants can get up to $2,000 through our Restaurant Relief Grant Program to expand their outdoor dining space. This could include purchase of shade structures or umbrellas, décor, barricades or even renting tables and chairs. Funding can be for either current or previous purchase back to March.
Applications are now open and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
