Fire Investigation

The Fire Investigation Section conducts investigations on all fires involving large dollar loss, fatalities or injuries to firefighters and/or civilians, undetermined fires by company officers and any fires deemed suspicious in nature.


Staff


The AF&R operates a fire investigations unit that is responsible for origin and cause determination and investigative services that include criminal prosecution of arson related crimes. The unit provided education, internally and externally, to aid in the prevention of fire and code compliancy. The unit is trained in structure and wild land; it has the responsibility of assuring community safety through analytics of trends and fire statistics with all applied investigative services of the unit. 

Memberships / Qualifications


All Investigators are members of the California Conference of Arson Investigators and International Association of Arson Investigators and are in good standing with both organizations.

The Section is under the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Operations.
