Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to qualify for a preference to apply to a PBV waiting list?
Yes. To apply to a regular multifamily and senior building waiting list, you must qualify for the Live/Work preference. You must also provide proof you are eligible for this preference. For example, for persons who state that they live in Anaheim, a rental lease agreement and utility bills are required. To qualify as working in Anaheim, you must be employed or volunteer at least 40 hours per month or participate in an education or job training program in Anaheim.
What apartment size do I qualify for?
Anaheim Housing Authority will approve two people per bedroom. See the chart below for more information on apartment size and your family size.
Bedroom Size | Minimum Family Size | Maximum Family Size |
---|---|---|
1 | 1 | 4 |
2 | 3 | 6 |
3 | 5 | 8 |
4 | 7 | 10 |
Will I still receive assistance if I move from a PBV apartment?
If you are a tenant in good standing and you have lived in your apartment for at least one year, you may be eligible to move with a voucher. The ability to receive a tenant-based voucher when you want to move depends on program funding and if any vouchers are available at that time.
Do I have to pass a credit check at the property?
Yes. Renting a PBV unit is like renting an apartment anywhere else. You must still meet the landlord’s credit, rental history and criminal background criteria. You will also be responsible for paying for credit checks, application fees and security deposit.
Do PBV buildings have any special amenities?
Yes, many buildings have free services to tenants, such as afterschool programs and computer literacy classes.
