Fire Corps Reserve Program

Anaheim Fire and Rescue’s Fire Corps Reserve Program is designed to provide training in various areas of the fire service arena for aspiring Firefighters and Fire Inspectors. This program offers hands-on experience for college students who are preparing for a career in fire service. Volunteers must commit to work 1 8-hour day per week, the same day every week in our 2-year program.

Qualifications include being a student currently enrolled in at least 2 fire technology classes at an accredited college, and possessing a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Additional classes such as state-certified courses in Fire Prevention and Fire Science are highly desirable. Volunteer Inspectors must have completed the Fire Prevention classes required for an AS degree in Fire Technology (1-A, 1-B, and 1-C).

Responsibilities are varied in assignments for our Fire Corps Reserves. Some of the duties include:
  • Providing administrative and clerical support
  • Providing apparatus and facility maintenance
  • Assisting with logistical needs for training activities and special projects that arise
  • Assisting in construction and inspection skills
  • Aiding in community risk reduction programs
