Anaheim to honor veterans with ceremony at Anaheim Veterans Monument Nov. 11

Veterans Day 2022

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Nov. 9, 2022) — The faces of America’s veterans have changed in recent years. Our oldest World War II veterans have left us and a swell of younger Americans have added to the veteran community.

So as we pause and reflect on our annual Veterans Day ceremony this year, we keep in mind the need to celebrate all veterans, young and old, living and passed on.

We invite everyone to join us Friday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. in front of the Anaheim Veterans Monument for a meaningful ceremony.

We’ll hear from Col. Sean P. Dynan of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit based at Camp Pendleton and a poem recited by Charlotte Van Steenergen, a World War II Japanese concentration camp survivor whose life was touched by a veteran.

The event will be emceed by Navy veteran Bobby McDonald, president and CEO of the Black Chamber of Commerce. The Esperanza High School Choir will sing the National Anthem and Military Medley.

Anaheim Public Utilities will be offering green light bulbs to attendees as part of the Greenlight a Vet initiative. The initiative encourages people to show veterans support by displaying a green light outside their home.

The Anaheim Veterans Monument is at 241 S. Anaheim Blvd.

Parking is available in the Anaheim City Hall structure off Broadway and Mito Way, the surface lot at Anaheim Boulevard and Broadway and in structures on Center Street Promenade.
