ANAHEIM, Calif. (Dec. 14, 2022) — You can better the look of your business and our city with up to $100,000 in grant funding from Anaheim.
The Storefront Improvement Program from Anaheim Economic Development offers grants of $10,000 or $100,000 to improve the public face of your store, business or property.
Along the way, you’ll be helping Anaheim modernize and improve the look of our major streets, business areas and neighborhoods.
You’ll want to act now. Funding is limited and will go quickly. The deadline to apply is Jan. 31.
Grants are designed to cover up to 75 percent of improvements with business or property owners covering at least 25 percent.
Grants of $100,000 are for larger improvements to the publicly visible fronts of stores, businesses and buildings, including:
- Business or building front restoration, renovation
- Professional repair of front exterior surfaces
- Exterior painting, stucco, brick, awnings and other public facing improvements
- Sign repair or replacement
- Door and window repair or replacement
- Lighting for appearance and safety
- Screening of publicly visible equipment
- Parking resurfacing and restriping
Grants of $10,000 are for cosmetic improvements to publicly visible fronts of stores, business and buildings, including:
- Professional repair of exterior front surfaces
- Painting of public facing exteriors
- Awnings and canopies
- Upgrades to meet the Anaheim Municipal Code that also enhance appearance
The Storefront Improvement Program works with businesses to improve the look of Anaheim’s streets and commercial centers while encouraging business investment.
Many of Anaheim’s retail and business centers are aging and in need of updating, which impacts the look of our streets and the quality of life for residents and neighborhoods.
With a focus on improving outward visibility, interior and other improvements aren’t eligible for funding under the program and are detailed in program guidelines.
Consideration for grants is based on an evaluation process that looks at the prominence and visibility of a business or property, location within a targeted city planning area and any public safety issues, among other criteria.
Applications will be considered in February following the Jan. 31 grant application deadline.
