ANAHEIM, Calif. (Aug. 29, 2023) — Art inspired by the annual Anaheim Fall Festival and Halloween Parade is on display at the Downtown Anaheim Community Center now through Oct. 3.

The community center’s Center Galley is hosting the Anaheim Fall Festival and Halloween Parade Art Show, an exhibit of historic photos, posters, paintings, drawings, sculptures and other items.

The exhibit is part of a two-year centennial celebration that starts this year with the 100th anniversary of the fall festival and continues into 2024 with next year’s 100th anniversary of the parade itself.

The exhibit includes works by Hayden Evans, an Irvine artist known for his work with Disney, Gustavo Jaime, an Anaheim resident and local tattoo artist, Evie Yapelli, an Orange-based tattoo artist who goes by Show Pidgeon, and Beanie Marie, also known as artist Shalene Lundgren of Anaheim.

“Anaheim Halloween Parade,” by Evans, is a poster-size digital artwork that captures some of the parade’s favorite moments and characters, including “Rocket Witch,” a glamorous witch riding a Space Age rocket, and “Pumpkin Man,” a loveable, dapper pumpkin headed man with blue bowler and snazzy suit.

“Pumpkin Man” is also featured in the exhibit as “Little Pumpkin Man,” a cloth sculpture doll by Beanie Marie’s Lundgren. “Little Pumpkin Man” is made from felt and was patterned, cut, sewn, stuffed and tagged in Beanie Marie’s Anaheim studio.

“I love a Parade,” by Yapelli of Show Pidgeon, is a pennant featuring city mascot Andy Anaheim with a marching bass drum along with other parade icons.

“Flying Sasser,” by artist Jessica Kelley, is a resin replica of a parade float that dates back to the 1950s and was recreated in 2012.

The float and the artistic resin replica feature a homemade flying saucer float.

Center Gallery is in the lobby of the Downtown Anaheim Community Center at 250 E. Center St. just off Anaheim Boulevard. The center is open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
